Dementia Support Worker
An NVQ level 2 (or above) certificate in Health and Social Care is essential for this role along with 6 months minimum experience within a Dementia setting.
Hours: 22-44 hours per week – Nights. Salary: see pay rates below.
Responsibilities
As a Dementia Support Worker, you will help ensure people are treated with respect and dignity. Your approach will be empathetic, compassionate, and focused on ensuring that the lives of residents are fulfilled and meaningful. In specially designed communities, you will engage with individuals on their dementia journey, understand their needs, encourage, assist, and support participation in appropriate leisure activities and daily living tasks, normalising life with joy and happiness. The role involves aspects of personal care and you may support individuals who show signs of distress. With support from the team, you will receive tailored dementia training to enhance your skills and the lives of those you support.
You will work to ensure residents are supported to participate in activities of daily living and meaningful leisure within a person-centred approach.
Qualifications and Experience
* NVQ Level 2 (or above) in Health and Social Care (essential)
* NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (advantageous)
* Minimum 6 months experience in a dementia setting
Requirements
NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care; previous care experience within a dementia setting; positive, person-led care mindset.
Hours, Pay and Benefits
* Shift pattern: Nights, 22-44 hours per week
* Rates of pay: NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care: £13.27 per hour
* NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care: £14.10 per hour
