SEMH Teacher - Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) Longsight, Manchester Full-Time | September Start Are you a resilient and passionate teacher with experience supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are recruiting for a full-time SEMH Teacher to join a well-established Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Longsight, Manchester. This role involves working with pupils who display highly challenging behaviour and require a structured, consistent, and nurturing approach to learning. ECTs are welcome to apply, provided they have relevant experience working with SEMH pupils, challenging behaviour, or alternative provision settings. The Role Plan and deliver engaging lessons that meet the individual needs of students with SEMH needs. Adapt learning materials and teaching strategies to support pupils working at varying academic levels. Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour using positive behaviour management techniques. Build strong, professional relationships with students who may have experienced trauma, exclusion, or disrupted education. Support pupils' emotional development, self-regulation, and engagement with learning. Work closely with pastoral teams, teaching assistants, parents, and external agencies to achieve positive outcomes. Essential Requirements Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent. Experience working with students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour. Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Experience adapting lessons to meet a range of learning abilities and needs. A resilient, patient, and proactive approach. Commitment to supporting vulnerable young people and promoting positive educational outcomes. Desirable Previous experience within a PRU, Alternative Provision, SEMH School, or specialist setting. Team Teach training (although training can be provided). Experience supporting students with additional SEND needs alongside SEMH. What We Offer Competitive rates of pay.
