£12.50 an hour
We would like to invite candidates to apply for the position of Laboratory Technician at our Dairy in Denby Dale.
You will be working alongside other Laboratory and onsite staff, processing and analysing samples and recording the results both by hand and onto computer. Therefore, we require the candidate to be able to demonstrate methodical work methods and great attention to detail.
The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for quality control and quality assurance activities within the Laboratory but will also liaise with the production team assisting with samples on the production line. The role reports to the QA Manager.
Laboratory Technician duties consist of:
· Carrying out the established range of quality control, microbiology and chemistry testing whilst carrying out inspection procedures and accurately recording and reporting results.
· Communicate any out of specification results to the wider team and take appropriate action.
· Use and maintain laboratory equipment with proper diligence in accordance with instruction and training provided.
· Carry out all work in a safe manor and report any health and safety risks via the appropriate channels.
· Become proficient in the use of any new equipment and procedures that may be introduced.
· Bring to the attention of the QA Manager any matter which you cannot resolve and which prevents or hinders the execution of your duties.
· Ensure good relations and communications with all members of the team respond in a timely fashion to internal and external customers.
· Manage the housekeeping standards within the laboratory environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
· Whilst no formal qualifications are needed to apply for the role the candidate should have good level of basic education (ideally science based) and/or relevant laboratory experience. Full training will be given to the right candidate.
· Additionally, candidates with either predominantly Chemistry or Microbiology related qualifications and / or experience will be cross trained in the other areas they don't currently have experience in.
· A driving licence is essential for this role due to location and rotating shift pattern.
· Possessing excellent IT skills especially Excel, Word, Outlook.
· Ability to work unsupervised and also within a small team.
· Willingness to work on day/weekend shifts and possessing the flexibility to cover additional shifts if needed.

Pay: £12.21-£12.50 per hour
