About the role:
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Lecturer – Motor Vehicle to join our Construction and Motor Vehicle department at Southall Community College.
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across Motor Vehicle programmes, supporting learners to achieve their full potential. The role involves classroom and workshop-based delivery, learner support, assessment, and contribution to curriculum development, ensuring provision remains industry-relevant and aligned with awarding body requirements.
Where appropriate, you may also take responsibility for leading a study programme or course, including curriculum design, quality assurance and learner outcomes.
The successful candidate will:
1. Deliver engaging and effective teaching, training and assessment across Motor Vehicle programmes.
2. Prepare lesson plans, schemes of work and high-quality teaching materials in line with College and awarding body requirements.
3. Act as a Personal Tutor, providing academic and pastoral support and delivering the College tutorial programme.
4. Monitor learner attendance, progress, behaviour and achievement, taking appropriate action where required.
5. Integrate English and Maths into vocational teaching and support delivery of GCSE and/or Functional Skills where required.
6. Act as an internal assessor and internal verifier as required.
7. Contribute to learner recruitment activities, including open evenings, interviews and course promotion.
8. Support work experience, industry engagement activities, external visits and employer partnerships.
9. Promote high standards of health & safety, safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.
10. Contribute to quality improvement processes including self-assessment, course review and evaluation.
11. Maintain up-to-date vocational knowledge and meet minimum occupational competence requirements.

13. Lead curriculum planning and programme delivery to meet learner and local skills needs.
14. Coordinate delivery teams and ensure compliance with awarding body requirements.
15. Monitor learner progress, behaviour and outcomes, including English, Maths and work experience.
16. Lead internal verification and liaise with awarding bodies and validating institutions.
