Location: Base: Victory House, Balliol Business Park or any accommodation as directed by the PCC. You will work right across the Northumbria area in schools and other settings.

Hours/Contract: 37 hours, 12 months fixed-term contract.

Roles at the Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner can range from delivering education sessions in schools as part of the Violence Reduction Unit to supporting the Commissioner’s drive to provide support services to victims of crime. The Role: The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner is one of twenty areas that have an established violence reduction unit (VRU) and commission services to deliver a Response Strategy including capacity building, tactical changes and interventions. VRUs are a multi-agency approach designed to bring together Police, Local Government, Health, Education and the Community and Voluntary sector to tackle violent crime, and importantly, its underlying causes. Reporting to the respective VRU Coordinator the Education and Training Officer will deliver education and training to teachers and other education professionals e.g. youth workers in community settings and educational packages to young people. This role will deliver training and education on violence reduction themes subjects such as knife crime, exploitation, healthy relationships, abusive and harmful content and misogyny.

* Experience of delivering training/education to adults and young people
* Relevant teaching/training qualification or appropriate experience
* Ability to establish and build trusted relationships with young people
* Experience of working with young people who have complex needsExcellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Knowledge of the school / college / training environment
* Knowledge and understanding of key themes around violence reduction e.g. knife crime, exploitation, VAWG and teenage relationship abuse
* Applicants must be a resident of the UK for a minimum period of 3 years to ensure vetting checks can be successfully performed. A job offer will be dependent upon vetting clearance, medical information and references.
* Salary: Grade E £30,276 to £32,613. Please note that the salary will be dependent on skills and experience.
* Minimum of 25 days’ leave, excluding bank holidays, increasing to 29 days for 5 years+ service.
