About The Role

As Divisional Quality Lead, you will be a key senior member of the Division Management Team, responsible for leading the strategic development, implementation, and monitoring of the Divisions quality governance portfolio. You will work collaboratively with medical governance leads, clinical teams, and operational staff to ensure robust systems are in place to deliver safe, effective, and high‑quality care.

You will provide expert advice and senior clinical leadership across the Division, ensuring compliance with regulatory, national, and internal standards. This includes oversight of risk management, incidents, complaints, mortality reviews, audits, and patient safety initiatives.

Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as Priority and ‘At Risk’ status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.


Responsibilities

* Lead the Divisions quality governance agenda, including risk, incidents, complaints, PALS, mortality, audit, assurance, and patient safety.
* Provide senior clinical leadership and expert advice across the Division and associated services.
* Represent the Division at internal and external meetings, including NHS England, CQC, and ICB.
* Chair and attend meetings related to incident investigations and complaints.
* Develop and implement standard operating procedures and quality improvement projects.
* Maintain clinical credibility by working within a relevant clinical area at least one day per month.
* Line manage the Clinical Lead Patient Experience and Outcomes.
* Oversee the Divisions service line risk registers and ensure alignment with Trust policies.
* Lead educational initiatives and support succession planning related to Quality Governance.
* Collaborate with other Divisions to share learning and address cross‑cutting themes.
* Represent the Division at key corporate committee meetings, with delegated authority to act and make decisions where appropriate, and to share key messages and lessons learned.
* Communicate with internal and external bodies/groups such as the ICB, NHS England/DHSC, CQC and internal auditors.
* Communicate highly complex and contentious information in a range of formats (written and verbal) to a range of individuals both internal and external to the Trust.
* The post holder will be required to receive and deal with complex, sensitive, confidential enquiries relating to patients and Trust staff daily.
* Use highly developed influencing skills and collaborative skills.
* Use interpersonal, organisational and communication skill to manage Governance performance at Divisional level.
* Develop support networks across the service lines.
* Agree and coordinate actions with other Divisions and support services to ensure co‑operative working.
* Act as Deputy Chair for key Quality Governance related meetings at Division level.
