Testing Manager / Authorised Person (LV) – £70,000–£75,000 package London & South East | Large-scale projects (critical power & commercial) | Site-based | Immediate start Senior, site-facing tester with the keys to energisation. Lead the LV testing function on major schemes, run a team of testers, own permits and isolations, and drive compliant, witness-ready handovers. The opportunity Join a high-performing MEP principal contractor with a strong pipeline of complex projects. You’ll be the go-to AP(LV) on flagship sites—controlling LOTO and power-on, setting the standard for ESSW/BS 7671 compliance, and keeping programmes on track. What you’ll deliver (testing & AP) * Plan, allocate and supervise all LV test activities; manage tester resourcing, access and programme. * Set up and maintain the digital test folder and dashboards; ensure results are uploaded within 24 hours and schedules (sub-mains, finals, earthing, modular wiring, ATS) stay live. * Verify installations to BS 7671 / GN3 and emergency lighting to BS 5266; complete DB/earth bar checks, inspection reports and snag lists; drive close-out of NCRs. * Manage switchgear FAT/SAT, protective-device settings and torque checks; control requests for power and isolations, LOTO, permits and key control; keep schematics and gateway trackers current. * Review test results, brief the T&C Manager/PM on out-of-tolerance findings, and coordinate client witnessing and evidence for NICEIC certification; attend commissioning meetings and support handover packs. * Provide client/operatives’ training when required; adopt an out-of-hours approach where necessary to protect completion dates. What you know cold * LV distribution, switchgear, UPS, busbar, modular wiring, controls/monitoring and ATS interfaces. * UK electrical safety and compliance: BS 7671, GN3, BS 7671 inspection & testing, BS 5266, CDM, permits and LOTO. * How to turn parallel test streams into a controlled, auditable process that aligns with programme and ESSW. What you’ll need * Proven site-based leadership as LV Testing Manager / AP on large MEP or critical-environment projects. * Hands-on testing & inspection expertise (2391 or equivalent), strong QA/document control, and confidence with electronic test systems and trackers. * Clear communicator who can chair toolbox/coordination meetings and work seamlessly with designers, supervisors and clients. * Current ECS/CSCS and full UK driving licence; flexibility for occasional night/weekend works.
