Holly Ward is a male, 17-bed later life ward based at Woodlands Hospital in Little Hulton caring for patients with organic illnesses. Our patients have complex needs, and we are determined to provide the most holistic care we can for our patients and to hopefully make their experience a more enjoyable one.
We are looking for a highly motivated activity worker with a passion for working with older adults with mental health issues. The ideal candidate is a committed, highly competent worker seeking an opportunity to make a real difference to patients and carers.
You must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work under pressure on a busy, inpatient ward.
Please note
* This role is not eligible for sponsorship unless you meet criteria by temporary exemption from current changes to immigration rules put in force on 22/07/2025. Separate provisions are applied to workers who have been sponsored and held continuously Skilled Worker visa since prior to 04/04/2024. The post holder will provide support, give time to an allocated group of service users and promote their recovery.
Key responsibilities include:
* Assist the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) in the care planning process.
* Engage with service users in a positive and professional manner.
* Implement discharge plans and plan safe and therapeutic activities in the community aimed at promoting social inclusion post-discharge.
* Work as a key member of the inpatient team, providing mental health services to the patient group and their families.
* Respond to service needs and support the team and service users, supporting them to work collaboratively in their treatment, recovery and discharge planning.
* Work closely with Nursing, Social Work and Occupational Therapy teams to plan and coordinate a programme of therapeutic activities on and off the ward.
* Involve other staff and service users in facilitating and co-facilitating these activities in accordance with best practice.
