Hours: Monday–Friday, 08:00–16:00
Salary: Up to £45,500 per annum
About the Role
We are recruiting a hands-on, skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering Services team. As our Dedicated Range Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining, improving and optimising a dedicated production range. Reporting to the Engineering Services Team Leader, you will respond to both planned and unplanned maintenance needs — troubleshooting issues, delivering lasting mechanical solutions and continuously enhancing process efficiency and quality.
This is a full-time, permanent opportunity — Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00 — ideal for a proactive engineer who thrives on responsibility, reliability, and precision.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out preventive and planned maintenance tasks and log all activity in the CMMS system.
* Investigate mechanical breakdowns to determine root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence — aiming for zero breakdowns.
* Document abnormalities in the CMMS system and ensure repairs are completed or scheduled with planners.
* Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities across the range.
* Conduct daily inspections of equipment — including guarding, air, steam, and water systems — and complete repairs as required.
* Participate in daily and weekly reviews (DMS/OGSM/MIR) and report key findings at Engineering DMS reviews.
* Collaborate with Production, PPI, and HS&E departments to support DTM (Down-Time Management) activities.
* Coach and mentor production associates in DTM practices.
* Work with Reliability Engineers on range-specific projects.
* Review and improve the PM (Preventive Maintenance) system for the range.
* Lead line audits for key equipment and support wider engineering team tasks during MPS (Maintenance, Spare parts, lubrication, zero loss) activities.
* Take a lead role in shutdown activities related to the range.
* Provide mechanical call-out support for the range outside planned maintenance windows.
* Perform any other reasonable duties as required.
What We’re Looking For
* Time-served Mechanical Engineer (or equivalent) with relevant certification.
* Strong mechanical engineering background, including knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, high/low-pressure steam systems, boilers and industrial print machinery.
* Familiarity with MPS practices such as DMS, DTM, PM, 5S, FI, CSD.
* Multi-skilled: ability to work on electrical systems is a plus.
* Excellent technical comprehension, analytical and numerical skills.
* Strong decision-making abilities, with capacity to act autonomously when required.
* Excellent communication (verbal & written), organisational and interpersonal skills.
* Able to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced production environment.
* Proactive, hands-on, self-motivated and a strong team player.
* Committed to upholding best practices in safety and operational excellence.
Why Join Us?
* Work a stable Monday–Friday, 08:00–16:00 schedule — no nights or weekends.
* Competitive salary for the role (up to £45,500).
* Opportunity to work for a multinational company with structured processes and a dedicated engineering services team.
* Hands-on, varied role offering day-to-day challenge and long-term career progression.
* Be part of a collaborative team that values continuous improvement, reliability and safety
