This is a live-in residential role, with evening and weekend duties in the boarding houses offset by time off during the week. The position is available from September 2025 to July 2026, with on-site accommodation provided. Applicants should have a keen interest in a career in education; previous holders have successfully applied for a PGCE afterwards.
The Role
* Support the Head of Boarding and Assistant Houseparents in creating a warm, friendly atmosphere and fostering a happy community, especially for new arrivals;
* Help children learn the routines of the boarding houses and assist with any issues;
* Uphold the rules of the boarding houses and report breaches to the Head of Boarding or Deputy Head;
* Participate in evening duties, including providing activities and helping with bedtimes;
* Participate in weekend duties under the direction of the Head of Boarding;
* Engage actively with children to meet their needs during boarding hours.
Specific responsibilities (Sport):
* Assist and coach sports teams as directed, including planning training sessions and preparing equipment;
* Coordinate team selection and post fixture lists in line with school policies;
* Transport teams to matches and oversee their conduct and sportsmanship;
* Referee or umpire matches in rugby, hockey, football, netball, cricket, and rounders, ensuring familiarity with rules.
You:
* Must hold, or be working towards, a good honours degree with a sense of responsibility and professionalism;
* Be an enthusiastic and capable sportsperson with coaching experience in various sports;
* Be reliable, cheerful, flexible, and willing to follow instructions.
Additional Information:
* Accommodation: provided rent-free within the grounds;
* Meals: all provided during duty hours;
* Hours: approximately 40 hours per week, as per rota.
