Job Title: Field Service Locomotive Technician\nSalary: £45,000 – £50,000 per annum + Overtime\nContract Type: Full-Time / Permanent\nShifts: 4 on 4 off Days\n\nAbout the Role\n\nWe are seeking a skilled and motivated Multi-Skilled Locomotive Technician/Engineer to join a fast growing rail organisation, supporting the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of diesel and/or electric locomotives.\n\nThis is a hands-on, varied role ideal for engineers with mechanical and electrical expertise who thrive in a fast-paced rail environment. You’ll play a key part in ensuring our fleet is safe, reliable, and fully operational.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * \n\n Conduct routine maintenance, fault-finding, and repairs on locomotives\n\n * \n\n Work on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems\n\n * \n\n Carry out overhauls and component rebuilds to industry standards\n\n * \n\n Support commissioning and testing of locomotives post-maintenance\n\n * \n\n Complete all job cards and maintenance records accurately\n\n * \n\n Adhere to safety, quality, and compliance procedures at all times\n\n * \n\n Work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team environment\n\nWhat We’re Looking For\n\n * \n\n Recognised engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical or Rail Engineering)\n\n * \n\n Proven experience in locomotive or rolling stock maintenance\n\n * \n\n Strong fault-finding skills across both mechanical and electrical disciplines\n\n * \n\n Knowledge of diesel-electric systems, traction motors, braking systems, and control systems\n\n * \n\n Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and maintenance manuals\n\n * \n\n Flexible and safety-conscious approach to work, basic tooling required\n\n * \n\n Experience working to depot maintenance schedules and procedures (preferred)\n\nWhat We Offer\n\n * \n\n Competitive salary, Van and overtime\n\n * \n\n Specialist Tools, uniform, and PPE provided\n\n * \n\n Structured training and upskilling opportunities\n\n * \n\n Pension scheme and paid holiday\n\n * \n\n Career progression in a growing rail engineering business\n\nReady to get your career on track?\nApply now and be part of a team powering the future of UK rail
