Role Overview
An experienced MEP Design Manager is required to lead and manage the design function across multiple projects. The role involves overseeing the full design lifecycle, ensuring technical excellence, programme alignment, and strong coordination between internal teams, clients, and external consultants.
This is a key leadership position working closely with project, commercial, and senior management teams.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Technical Leadership
Manage MEP design delivery from concept to construction
Review drawings, calculations, and specifications
Ensure compliance with CIBSE, British Standards, and Building Regulations
Drive value engineering and efficient design solutions Team Leadership
Lead and mentor Design Engineers and CAD/Revit Technicians
Coordinate external consultants
Allocate resources across multiple projects Project Coordination
Work closely with project and site teams
Attend design meetings and site visits
Ensure timely issue of design information Pre-Construction Support
Support tenders and design strategies
Assist with planning and risk reviews Compliance & Delivery
Ensure designs meet client requirements, timelines, and budgets
Manage design changes and technical challenges Requirements
Essential
Experience as a Design Manager or Senior Design Engineer (MEP)
Strong mechanical and electrical building services knowledge
Experience managing multiple projects
Leadership and stakeholder management skills Desirable
Building Services Engineering degree
CIBSE membership
Design & build contractor experience
BIM/Revit knowledge Package
