Overview
Geotechnical Engineer at Amentum in Gloucester, United Kingdom. The role supports a worldwide workload and geotechnical projects across Defence, Nuclear Power, Environment and Government-Owned Critical Infrastructure.
Responsibilities
 * Manage ground risk by delivering geotechnical assessment, analysis, design and construction supervision on UK and international projects.
 * Preliminary studies: source, feasibility, value engineering, innovation and sustainability.
 * Land and overwater ground investigations with in situ and laboratory testing and data management.
 * Ground characterisation, parametrisation and modelling of soil and rock.
 * Numerical and finite element analyses of geotechnical problems, including seismic and dynamic analysis.
 * Geotechnical analysis and design of innovative and sustainable structures such as routine and complex design within soil and rock, SSI and seismic SSSI, deep and shallow foundations, retaining walls, basements and cofferdams, earthworks, reinforced earth and geotextiles, ground improvement including vibrational, mixing and grouting methodologies, ground anchors, soil nails, rock bolts, etc.
 * Specification for construction purposes and technical construction assurance.
Requirements
 * Knowledge of ground engineering with a focus on geotechnical design.
 * Experience with geotechnical standards and codes of practice.
 * Ground investigation experience.
 * Geotechnical analysis, design and technical reporting involving deep/shallow foundations, basements, retaining structures, earthworks, ground treatment, soil/rock reinforcement and ground anchors.
 * Degree (BEng, MEng, MSc) in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, or equivalent.
Work environment
Flexible working arrangements with a mix of office-based and home working. Bristol office preferred base, with other offices such as Oxford, Reading, London or Glasgow considered.
