Job Description
We are working with a major international offshore wind client who requires a Lead Electrical Engineer to manage the Project’s electrical design from concept stage through to detailed design, procurement, manufacture, installation, testing, and to manage the process to connect the Project to the electricity transmission network (NETS). This includes engagement with the Energy System Operator (ESO) and Transmission Owner (TO) and demonstrating Grid Code compliance. The Lead Electrical Engineer is responsible for developing the overall electrical system design for the Project that complies with all relevant industry codes, such as the Grid Code and the Security and Quality of Supply Standards (SQSS). They will use this design to produce electrical specifications for inter-array/export cables, on/offshore substations, and the SCADA system to be implemented in the Project. Additionally, the Lead Electrical Engineer will manage the Bilateral Connection Agreement and Construction Agreement and lead discussions with the ESO and TO.
Main Accountabilities
Other responsibilities include:
* Overall accountability for connecting the Project to the NETS, ensuring compliance with Bilateral Connection and Construction Agreements.
* Ensuring the electrical system, considering wind turbine characteristics, meets all checks and tests for Grid Code and SQSS compliance.
* Fulfilling necessary requirements for connection and export to the NETS.
* Documenting justifications for the design and delivery of transmission assets to support asset sale under the UK’s Generator Build model.
* Identifying the need for internal and external technical support.
* Providing technical support to other departments, including wind turbines and health and safety.
* Line managing an electrical engineer and supporting their technical development.
