Job Duties
Works directly with the Central Office Sample Verification Manager/Data Analyst to provide field office oversight of the sample verification program. Protects the public health by ensuring that water quality samples collected for compliance with the federal Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) and the Waterworks Regulations are accurately collected, analyzed, and reported by public waterworks and certified laboratories. This is accomplished through quality assurance and quality control checks, including record reviews, site visits, and requests for corrective actions. Serves as the subject matter expert for sampling processes and procedures for the entire field office. May assist the field office with surveillance, site visits and sanitary surveys, compliance, enforcement, and providing technical assistance, when available.
Minimum Qualifications
• Working knowledge of biology, microbiology, chemistry, and math;
• Knowledge of technology associated with provision of drinking water;
• Knowledge of good laboratory practices.
• Ability to use computers for word processing and data management.
• Ability to communicate in English in writing, orally, interpersonally, and before groups and public meetings.
• Ability to interpret regulations and technical documents.
• Experience leading a project or team
Additional Considerations
• Experience conducting sanitary surveys or environmental risk assessments.
• Knowledge of SDWA and Virginia Waterworks Regulations.
• Ability to manage a regulatory program.
• Licensure as a Class 3, 2, or 1 Waterworks Operator by the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation.
