Overview
As an Intelligence Technical Officer in the Environment Agency’s National Environmental Crime Unit, you will build confidence and capability across area teams in intelligence‑led ways of working and the use of intelligence systems to build understanding of Threat, Risk and Harm and drive a better approach to tackling environmental offending and protect officer safety.
Responsibilities
* Provide Memex training to area staff and promote the use and benefits of Memex; improve the quality of intelligence submissions.
* Deliver face‑to‑face training on the Intelligence system, MEMEX.
* Provide support and training to enable area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches.
* Supervise intelligence logs to ensure a high standard of quality in submissions.
* Create entities from Memex submissions.
* Provide regular reports on performance and feedback on ways to improve performance.
* Ensure high standards of quality of intelligence submissions.
* Undertake other duties commensurate with the role.
* Respond to incidents as part of a dispersed team, with available incident role and potential additional payment and full training; alternative working arrangements to support the incident role may be available.
Experience / Skills Required
* A good understanding of intelligence and intelligence systems.
* An ability to advocate for an intelligence‑led approach and embed it across teams.
* Excellent influencing skills; ensure Memex use is the norm and safety checks are mandatory.
* Proven success in building strong, effective relationships.
* Ability to create and deliver engaging, effective and inclusive training.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to give feedback on ways to improve intelligence submission performance.
* Strong self‑management and organisational skills.
* Great teamwork to support colleagues in achieving common goals.
Additional Information
* Location is flexible with a mix of home and office working; travel to Birmingham and other offices will be required on occasions.
* Interviews will be via Microsoft Teams and are expected to be in October.
