Overview
The Children and Families Department takes a strengths‑based approach to working with children, young people and families, and partner agencies. Nottinghamshire Youth Justice Service is committed to delivering help and support to children and adolescents early. We are looking for three Early Help Case Managers to strengthen our work through diversion and preventative interventions, helping reduce admissions to the criminal justice system. You will work directly with families, supporting vulnerable individuals facing a range of complex problems to achieve positive outcomes.
We are looking for experienced individuals who are enthusiastic, dedicated and committed to making a difference for children, adolescents, and families. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, alongside a firm commitment to child‑centred values. You should practise creativity and collaboration, demonstrating excellent skills in building relationships with children, adolescents, and families to overcome challenges.
A good understanding of the criminal justice system and proven experience in addressing the needs of children and adolescents, particularly those at risk of entering the system, would be beneficial.
Core Responsibilities
* Work in close liaison with colleagues from other agencies to improve outcomes for children, adolescents and their families, acting as a lead professional, coordinating support and chairing multi‑agency meetings.
* Gather, evaluate, and assess information for use in structured assessments and formal reports.
* Plan and deliver intervention to children, adolescents, parents and carers, either one‑to‑one or as part of a group.
* Work independently, prioritise work and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
This role offers the opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of vulnerable families, helping them build brighter futures away from the criminal justice system.
Expectations & Qualifications
* Nominally based at Lawn View House or Trent Bridge House, with county‑wide travel required.
* Willing to work flexibly and outside core hours where required.
* Requires a relevant professional qualification (including assessed practice) at Level 4 or above.
* 3‑year fixed‑term contract from 1st April 2026.
* Open to secondment for existing Nottinghamshire County Council employees (subject to line manager approval).
Equal Opportunities
Nottinghamshire County Council prides itself on being accredited as a Disability Confident Leader Organisation. Applicants with disabilities will be offered an interview if they meet the minimum criteria for the role. A job share scheme is available for all full‑time posts, unless otherwise stated. The Council encourages applications from all candidates regardless of gender, marital status, disability, race, religion, belief, pregnancy, maternity status, age or sexual orientation.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks.
