Education Wellbeing Practitioner (EMHP or CWP)

City & Hackney CAMHS are excited to be recruiting to a new full time post for an Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) / Children's Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) in The Mental Health in Schools Support Team (MHST).

In line with the government's priority to increase access and availability of mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people, the EMHP/CWP role is an exciting opportunity to deliver evidence-based early interventions for children and young people, working across both educational settings and healthcare sectors in England.

The MHST is an arm of the well-established Well-being and Mental Health Service (WAMHS), embedded in schools across City & Hackney supporting schools to implement whole school approaches to mental health. WAMHS have laid the foundations for the MHST to be able to build on whole school approaches as well as provide direct support for children, young people and parents through workshops and guided self-help interventions for young people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will deliver and assess outcome focused, evidence-based interventions to children and young people with mild-to-moderate mental health problems, and their families, parents, and carers. They will support the senior mental health lead to introduce or develop their whole school/college approach. They will also liaise with supervisors to agree appropriate signposting and referrals for children and young people.

In line with Trust policy, the service has adopted a hybrid clinical working model of direct face to face and remote working as appropriate.

The service embraces continual improvement and well-being of the staff and has a high degree of enthusiasm for quality improvement and working together with partner agencies to provide the highest quality service to the population we serve.

About us

The East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT) provides a wide range of community and inpatient services to children, young people, adults of working age, older adults and forensic services to the City of London, Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets, Bedfordshire and Luton. In Tower Hamlets the Trust provides high standard mental health services for children and young people based on strong partnerships with the Borough's education and social care services, community health services and voluntary/third sector agencies.
