Initial 3-Month Contract | 37 Hours per Week | £21 Umbrella per Hour (£19 PAYE an hour)
Southampton City Council are seeking a passionate and committed Young People’s Practitioner to join their dedicated team on an initial 3-month contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of young people and their families.
The Role As a Young People’s Practitioner, you will:
Deliver safe, effective, and creative interventions to young people at risk of exploitation or family breakdown.
Provide direct support to young people and their families, helping to build resilience and strengthen relationships.
Work in partnership with the police, education providers, and social care teams to disrupt exploitation and reduce risks.
Support young people in accessing education, skills development, positive diversionary activities, and community opportunities.
Contribute to positive outcomes such as reducing youth violence, reducing offending/re-offending, and improving young people’s safety and aspirations.
Hold your own caseload and also support alongside social workers on CIN, CIC, CP and ROTH cases.
Work flexibly across different teams within the Young People’s Service, including Prevention, Youth Justice, Intensive Support and Missing/Return Home services.About You We are looking for candidates with:
Experience of working directly with children, young people, and families.
Knowledge of safeguarding, exploitation, and youth violence.
The ability to engage effectively with young people and build positive, trusting relationships.
Strong partnership working skills, particularly with police, schools, social care, and other agencies.
Flexibility to work across different service areas and adapt to changing needs.Contract Details

Contract Length: 3 months initially
Hours: 37 hours per week (flexible working between 7:30am – 6:30pm, with occasional additional flexibility required)
Rate: £21 per hour (umbrella)
