Overview
ABOUT THE ROLE — As a Senior Nurse (General) at a Barchester care home, you'll use your leadership skills to ensure residents receive the quality care we’re known for. You will be a hands-on clinical leader, creating a safe and supportive environment for residents with a range of mental and physical needs. You’ll apply professional judgement to make critical clinical decisions, from assessing new residents to implementing safeguarding policies and administering medicines in line with NMC regulations. You’ll support and mentor your team to ensure they have the clinical training needed to deliver the highest standards of nursing. You’ll have the freedom and autonomy to do things the right way and be valued and respected for what you do.
Responsibilities
* Provide clinical leadership and hands-on care to ensure high standards of nursing across residents with diverse needs.
* Assess new residents, implement safeguarding policies, and administer medicines in accordance with NMC regulations.
* Support and mentor the care team, delivering clinical training to maintain high-quality care.
* Exercise professional judgement in clinical decision-making and uphold regulatory and best-practice standards.
About You
Qualifications and experience — You’ll need to be a Registered Nurse (RGN) with a current NMC registration and a mentoring or supervision qualification. Experience in producing care plans and detailed risk assessments is important, along with up-to-date knowledge of recent clinical practices. Understanding regulatory frameworks, including DoLs/MCA and Royal Pharmaceutical guidelines, is desirable. You should be a natural leader and problem solver who has worked with older people and acted as a clinical mentor, including supporting newly qualified nurses through their preceptorship. You should be dedicated, ambitious and resilient, with a track record of delivering improvements to achieve quality care.
