Job Purpose
The role will be responsible for the East Midlands territory, focusing on the business development and sales of Hill's Prescription Diet, Science Plan and VetEssentials brands. Responsibilities include providing technical training and product presentations to veterinarians, animal care providers and shop staff, preparing commercial business development plans, and representing Hill's at events such as congresses and exhibitions.
Responsibilities
- Develop deep knowledge of customer business and build a network with key decision makers in veterinary practice and specialty pet stores.
- Provide professional support (detailing, in-clinic/store seminars, technical training, merchandising) to all key stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities and develop technical and business propositions that meet the needs of Hill’s and the customer.
- Ensure awareness, full distribution and active endorsement of Hill’s products and services in all core disease categories.
- Maintain full distribution, excellent visibility and active endorsement of Hill’s products by store staff.
- Drive rapid acceptance, endorsement and distribution of new products.
- Establish shelf space, adequate inventory, merchandising and practice protocols to Hill’s standards.
- Increase recruitment of new users to Hill’s brands through active recommendations and trial programs.
- Develop and implement annual joint business/action plans for key veterinary clinics and specialty pet stores.
- Schedule regular business reviews with decision makers to assess results versus agreed goals and adjust plans.
- Deliver 100% travel within the territory.
- Achieve territory sales targets and plan/examine call value for the territory.
- Maintain timely call reports and records; review potential accounts annually and secure strong presence for Hill’s brands.
- Maintain accurate records in the Hill’s reporting system and leverage company tools for execution.
- Monitor territory objectives versus target and develop strategies to address changes in the business environment.
- Manage assigned budget, submit payment requests and T&E expenses accurately and timely.
- Develop and maintain high standards of knowledge in small animal nutrition, Hill’s and competitor products through training and self-study.
- Represent Hill’s at meetings, conferences, trade shows and client events; stay ahead of trends and share information with Head Office.
Qualifications
- Relevant training or experience as a veterinarian or nurse is advantageous.
- Experience in customer and business development.
- Goal-oriented with a proven track record of effective execution and hitting KPIs.
- Strong communication skills: confident, positive, persuasive, with excellent presentation and negotiation abilities.
- Relationship building: natural collaborator focused on the needs of the consumer and customer.
- Organised: strong planning and priority‑setting ability to manage a busy field schedule independently.
Location & Travel
Location: East Midlands, United Kingdom; Remote work permitted. Travel: 75% of time or more (100% within the territory).
