Nursing Assistant

We are looking for a dynamic, caring team player to join our Rheumatology Department with Northumbria Healthcare Foundation Trust. Our service covers Wansbeck, North Tyneside, Morpeth, Blyth and Hexham area. Predominant working pattern will be Monday to Friday.
Rheumatology is a very interesting and varied speciality. Our staff need to work well as a team but also autonomously when required. We pride ourselves on providing excellent patient care.
This is varied role and the successful applicant will support the nursing team, taking bloods, triaging patients and handling calls directly from the advice line.
Part time hours 32.5 hours.
Main duties of the job
 * To assist in the delivery of a high standard of patient care. Supporting the nursing staff and consultants.
 * When fully trained there will be the opportunity to work more autonomously.
 * Be able to perform phlebotomy
 * Communicate effectively and sensitively with patients, relatives and colleagues, referring to senior staff as necessary.
 * Answer the telephone and relay messages accurately.
 * Welcome patients and visitors in a professional, friendly and helpful manner.
 * Work effectively as a member of the team, offering support to colleagues and requesting assistance as necessary.
 * Record care given accurately, legibly, completely and concisely
 * effective communication skills to be able to communicate with patients calling the advice line

Job responsibilities
 * Undertakes a range of delegated clinical care duties in hospital, community, and other settings.
 * Records patient observations and changes to patient clinical conditions
 * Carries out limited clinical care duties.
 * To work under the supervision of a qualified nurse and assist in the implementation of both direct and non-direct patient care.
 * To provide and promote high quality care under the guidance of a qualified healthcare professional.
Person Specification
Qualifications / Professional Registration
 * Completion of a competency-based programme or equivalent relevant experience
 * Level 3 qualification in a healthcare related subject or a portfolio of equivalent demonstrable experience
Experience & Knowledge
 * Previous care experience in a health or social care setting
 * Evidence of completed competencies aligned to the service area
 * Customer Care course
