Job Overview
As a Specialist Grade Doctor, you will provide expert community psychiatric care to people with intellectual disabilities who reside within the county of Pembrokeshire. The service has already implemented Dementia, Epilepsy, and PMLD pathways. You will lead clinical care, teaching activities and contribute to service development and governance.
Main Duties
* Ensure the provision and delivery of a first‑class clinical service.
* Provide effective leadership to all staff engaged in the speciality.
* Sustain and develop teaching and research wherever appropriate.
* Undertake all work in accordance with the Health Board’s procedures and operating policies.
* Conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the Health Board’s service plans.
* Contribute to the Consultant on‑call rota (1 in 14 rota).
* Maintain the confidence of business plans and development strategies formulated for the specialty or the Health Board.
* Core clinical expertise in the field of Intellectual Disability Psychiatry.
* Experience and knowledge of running a specialty service.
* Leadership and team building skills as well as working as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
* Support and train multi‑disciplinary teams.
* Participate in CPD including audit.
* Maintain professional development for revalidation.
* Lead a teaching and training role for medical undergraduates and postgraduates.
* Supervisor role to Junior and Middle Grade Medical Staff.
* Undertake regular multi‑disciplinary clinical audit and provide evidence‑based medicine.
