Summary of Role:
Lead a team of production associates in building and testing high-quality electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies, ensuring targets for output, quality, and safety are met.
Main Duties:
1. Respond to site incidents during the night shift.
2. Deploy personnel to support production targets.
3. Ensure associates follow work instructions accurately.
4. Develop performance goals and conduct appraisals for direct reports.
5. Communicate effectively and coordinate handovers between shifts.
6. Manage personnel, including other shifts.
7. Lead a large team (typically more than 15 direct reports).
8. Manage cross-training and maintain training matrices for associates.
9. Chair daily team start-up meetings.
10. Oversee timekeeping, attendance, and holiday management.
11. Address disciplinary issues in collaboration with HR.
12. Approve timesheets and manage overtime.
13. Own 5S and safety initiatives.
14. Lead process and quality improvement initiatives.
15. Set and monitor daily and weekly targets using Lean Manufacturing and Standard Work principles.
16. Plan and communicate kit management with Planning and Material Control.
17. Report on performance metrics to management.
18. Proactively report equipment downtime.
19. Manage high-mix, high-changeover production environments with shifting priorities.
20. Expedite work through production stages to meet targets.
21. Collaborate with engineering and QA to resolve process issues.
22. Recover from production downtime issues.
23. Control work-in-progress (WIP), manage aged WIP, and ensure line-item accuracy.
24. Manage defective materials and consumables in coordination with Material Control.
Candidate Requirements:
Essential:
* SVQ Level 4 in Operational Management or equivalent qualification, or at least 2 years of relevant experience.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Desirable:
* Experience in electronics or electro-mechanical production.
* Strong persuasion and negotiation skills.
* Ability to make clinical decisions and demonstrate authority.
* Excellent organizational and communication skills.
* Disciplined, determined, and highly effective approach.
* Experience with SAP or similar shop floor control systems.
