About the Role We are seeking a confident and proactive Cover Supervisor to join a well-established mainstream all-boys secondary school. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong classroom management skills who is passionate about supporting students’ learning and maintaining high standards of behaviour and engagement.
The successful candidate will supervise classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring pupils remain on task and follow the work set by the class teacher.
Key Responsibilities
Supervising whole classes across KS3 and KS4 in the absence of teaching staff
Delivering pre-planned lessons and ensuring learning objectives are met
Maintaining a calm, focused, and well-managed classroom environment
Managing behaviour effectively in line with the school’s behaviour policy
Promoting positive attitudes towards learning in an all-boys setting
Supporting pupils with questions and encouraging engagement
Reporting back to teaching staff on pupil progress and behaviourThe Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Previous experience working with secondary-aged pupils (school-based experience preferred)
Strong behaviour management and confidence working with boys
Excellent communication and organisational skills
The ability to engage and motivate students
A calm, professional, and adaptable approach
A genuine interest in education and pupil developmentDesirable (but not essential):
Experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, or Youth Worker
Experience in a mainstream secondary or all-boys school
