The company specialises in residential development, asset management and commercial and industrial property, managing a diverse portfolio including approximately 7,500 residential plots and assets exceeding £2 billion in value.
As the business continues to expand, we are looking for an Assistant Management Accountant to join our finance team in Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast paced and growing property business, offering strong development opportunities within a collaborative finance team.
The Role
The Assistant Management Accountant will support the Finance Manager and wider finance team with the preparation of management accounts, financial reporting and day to day accounting operations across the property portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist with preparation of year end accounts and supporting reports
* Prepare monthly management accounts including overhead analysis and reporting
* Perform regular balance sheet reconciliations
* Manage intercompany accounting and reconciliations, including monthly PAYE journals
* Maintain the fixed asset register
* Track costs and provide monthly variance analysis
* Oversee VAT and CIS returns prepared by the finance assistant and purchase ledger team
* Support resolution of supplier queries and payment issues
* Oversee accounts payable processes and finalise monthly payment runs
* Conduct monthly departmental audits and financial reviews
* Provide support to the Finance Manager and wider finance team when required
Requirements
* Previous experience in a similar accounting role
* Construction or property sector experience and understanding of CIS advantageous
* Good understanding of financial reporting and management accounts
* Strong communication skills with the ability to work with different stakeholders
* Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
* Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks
* Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to work
