The pharmacy service is open on Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 8pm and Saturday from 9:00am to 2.30pm
How you’ll help us make health happen:
The Specialist Oncology Pharmacist is a key role in ensuring the delivery and development of a first-class clinical oncology pharmacy service to the Oncology ward and hospital departments
1. Providing a comprehensive and patient centered Clinical Pharmacy service to oncology and chemotherapy day unit patients at Cromwell Hospital in accordance with the hospital’s objectives in order to ensure safe, clinically effective and cost-efficient use of drugs.
2. To act as a specialist oncology pharmacist and provide a patient focused clinical pharmacy ward service to the oncology ward and chemotherapy day unit
3. Ensure safe management of oncology electronic prescribing system and appropriate management of introduction of new oncology medicines
4. To communicate information relating to medicines management within the oncology setting to clinical colleagues, nurses, independent prescribers, carers and patients.
5. Attending and actively contributing to oncology MDTs and ward rounds
6. Lead safe and effective use of oncology medicines, including electronic prescribing and new drug introductions.
7. Support service development, audits, and external accreditation efforts.
8. Develop and implement oncology pharmacy policies and clinical guidelines.
9. Mentor and supervise pharmacy technicians and junior pharmacists
Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:
10. Master’s Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent
11. Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
12. Post graduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy
13. Demonstrable evidence of experience and further study within clinical pharmacy.
14. SACT knowledge acquired working as a cancer pharmacist
15. Significant experience in providing highly specialist Cancer Services
16. Contribution to MDT ward rounds
