What you’ll be doing
1. Lead, develop and implement BT Group data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and procedures ensuring alignment with business objectives and establishing data as an asset that delivers value.
2. Define, monitor and manage processes for monitoring data governance policies, procedures, and standards (e.g. meta data, data lineage)
3. Define and establish data ownership and stewardship model with roles and responsibilities across the organisation.
4. Implement and govern E2E data domain map and business information model
5. Oversee data stewardship activities to maintain high data quality and consistency
6. Define and enforce metadata management and data lineage practices
7. Collaborate with key stakeholders across business units to ensure buy-in and sponsorship of data governance initiatives.
8. Act as a conduit between central governance and delivery units, ensuring consistent application of data governance standards.
9. Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance data governance control processes and platforms.
10. Provide training and guidance on data governance best practices and tools.
11. Mentor and coach a team of professionals, fostering growth and maintaining a high-performing team capable of executing the governance strategy.
12. Input into shaping the Data transformation program
Skills and Experience
Functional Knowledge & Technical Skills
13. Stay updated on the latest industry trends and advancements on data governance tools and techniques
14. Familiar with Data Governance frameworks (e.g. DAMA).
15. Knowledge of data models, lineage, and enterprise data platforms.
16. Data Lineage: Ability to document and visualise data flow from source to consumption
Business Expertise
17. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
18. Influence across Business functions on data governance topics.
19. Ability to work collaboratively with Data Owners, Stewards, and business units to resolve data governance issues.
20. Ability to identify and implement enhancements to data government framework
21. Understanding of business-critical data domains (e.g. customer, product, finance) and their operational impact.
22. Translating technical data issues into business relevant language for non-technical audiences
Experience you would be expected to have
23. Proven experience in leading data governance programs and implementation.
24. Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, applications, processes and principles
25. Leadership of small team of data professionals
