Due to continuing expansion of our client’s manufacturing activities, they are looking for a Project Assembly Engineer to join this leading provider of electronic design and assembly services in Widnes, Cheshire.

With over 70 years of collective experience in areas as diverse as avionics, automotive subsystems, digital video, distributed data acquisition, motor control, and smart card development, our client works with their customers at the leading edge of new product development. They handle everything from initial design, prototyping, and certification to volume manufacturing, ongoing service, maintenance, and repair — covering the complete product lifecycle.

About the role

As a Project Assembly Engineer, you will be responsible for the smooth introduction of customer manufacturing data for prototypes and established products into manufacturing operations. Your duties will include:

1. Liaising with customers at an engineering level to finalize the Bill of Materials (BOM) and supporting manufacturing data.
2. Manipulating and importing ECAD data into BOMs and outputting parts lists into specific assembly and manufacturing formats.
3. Defining build structure for multi-board and system-level products.
4. Overseeing assembly of ‘First off’ products and liaising with customers to resolve technical problems.
5. Producing all build documentation with assistance from design and product engineering teams in line with the company quality systems.
6. Providing customer post-delivery technical assistance and support.
7. Resolving internal manufacturing technical queries.

About you

To be successful for the role of Project Assembly Engineer, you must have:

* A degree level (minimum HNC) in electronics or a related engineering discipline.
* Previous experience in a similar role or industry.
* A strong practical engineering background.
* A keen eye for detail and an aptitude for delivering the ‘right first-time’ results.
* Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
* Good computer skills (Excel & CAD).
* Ability to learn new concepts quickly.

About the hours and rewards

For the role of Project Assembly Engineer, your normal working hours are 8am – 4pm (Mon to Fri). An excellent salary of up to £30,000 per annum depending on experience is on offer, plus:

* 25 days holiday plus an extra day for each complete year’s service up to a maximum of 30 days, plus paid bank holidays.
* 5% employer pension contribution and 4% employee scheme.
* Free parking.
* 4-day working week — currently in a trial from July to September 2023, with potential adoption of a Mon – Thurs 7am to 5pm schedule if successful.
