Engineering and Technology Graduate Programme
Duration: 24 months
Starting salary: £31,000 + £2,000 joining bonus
Location: Derby, Bristol, Solihull
At Rolls-Royce we are proud to be a business that has truly helped to shape the modern world and are committed to always being a force for progress; powering, protecting and connecting people everywhere.
By joining Rolls-Royce in an Emerging Talent programme, you'll have the opportunity to work on world-class solutions, supported by a culture that believes individuality is our greatest strength, and all perspectives, experiences and backgrounds help us innovate and enable our high-performance culture.
Position summary:
During your two years on our Engineering and Technology Graduate programme, you’ll gain invaluable insight into the breadth of our work and discover where you’d like to take your career with us.
You’ll join our Engineering, Technology and Safety organisation (known as ETS), which supports all our different divisions. You’ll complete rotational ‘gigs’, gathering experience across the engineering lifecycle and building capabilities such as mechanical systems, manufacturing, software and digital, electrical, materials and development. These gigs could be within our central Engineering, Technology and Safety teams or within our Civil Aerospace, Defence or Power Systems divisions. We want to give you a breadth of experience across Rolls-Royce to build your network, enable you to grow and help you find the best fit in our organisation.
What you’ll be doing:
1. Working on exciting and varied projects – from exploring nuclear options for powering space travel, to helping develop next-generation demonstrator engines such as the UltraFan
2. Using data, technology and AI to improve environmental performance at power stations, test marine automation software or strengthen cyber-security
3. You’ll develop through a mix of digital learning, on-the-job training and opportunities that bring your ideas to life in meaningful ways
4. Completing a ‘Design & Make’ project, tackling a challenge set by business stakeholders and experiencing the full engineering life cycle from design through to manufacture
5. Gaining hands-on, practical experience in our workshop
6. Benefiting from the support of a dedicated career coach, who will help you create a personalised development plan and guide you towards achieving your full potential
7. Accessing opportunities to work towards professional qualifications and continuous learning
Who we’re looking for:
8. A degree in any STEM subject, or joint honours degrees that combine STEM with subjects like business or economics
9. A strong passion for the future of technology
10. A willingness to work flexibly and travel between locations: in most cases, you will be able to achieve the scheme requirements in the location you are recruited to, however, we may need you to be flexible and travel between sites during or for your rotational ‘gigs’
11. Being open-minded, curious and agile in your approach to work and career development
We see hybrid working as a way to balance and flex our time between the office, home, or another remote working place. Everyone is expected on site, on average, three days per week. But specific arrangements will vary from role to role and gig to gig. We encourage and support flexible working arrangements where we can.
Our behaviours drive us - we put safety first, do the right thing, keep it simple and make a difference. We’ll expect that of you, too.
What we offer:
You’ll be a full-time employee, working on real projects and making a real difference from day one. That’s why we make sure you’re properly rewarded for the work you do.
Along with your salary, you’ll get:
12. 33 days’ annual leave, including bank holidays
13. £2,000 joining bonus to support with moving and hybrid working
14. Other bonus schemes
15. A choice of voluntary benefits, including the Cycle to Work scheme, employee discounts at nationwide stores, gyms, discounted health care, life assurance and more, all available on our TotalReward portal
16. A competitive pension
17. Access to tax-efficient share plans
18. An enhanced maternity scheme and family-friendly policies
19. Flexible work arrangements and career breaks
20. Access to an independent, 24-hour, confidential counselling service
Our vision is to ensure that the excellence and ingenuity that shaped our history continues into our future. Our multi-year transformation programme aims to turn Rolls-Royce into a high-performing, competitive, resilient and growing company. Join us, and it can be your future vision too.
Rolls-Royce are committed to being a respectful, inclusive, and non-discriminatory workplace where individuality is valued, diverse perspectives fuel innovation, and everyone can thrive.
