Teaching Assistant (TA)

Salary: £90 per day

New Directions Education is recruiting for a caring and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant (TA) to work within a primary school in the Blaenau Gwent area. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children’s learning and development in the classroom.
Role Overview:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will support the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons, while also helping pupils develop confidence, independence, and a love of learning. You may work with small groups, provide one-to-one support, and assist with classroom management to create a positive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support pupils with their learning across a range of subjects.
2. Provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils who may need extra help.
3. Encourage positive behaviour and promote inclusion in the classroom.
4. Assist the teacher with preparing resources and setting up learning activities.
5. Provide feedback to teaching staff on pupil progress and engagement.
6. Contribute to the overall wellbeing and development of pupils.
Requirements:
7. Previous experience supporting children in a school or childcare setting (desirable).
8. A relevant qualification in education or childcare (desirable but not essential).
9. Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) in Wales.
10. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
11. A patient, supportive, and proactive approach to working with children.
