The Candidate:
This is a starter position, providing organisational and administrative support to assist with the efficient running of the Practice Management Team.
The role is predominantly office-based with regular outdoor tasks (including manual handling). The successful candidate will work under the management and direction of the Senior Practice Manager, supporting clerks and the wider staff team.
Key responsibilities will include:
1. Answering the telephone professionally, directing calls or taking messages, and providing efficient service at all times.
2. Accompanying barristers to and from court with their papers and other outdoor activities as required.
3. Recording receipt of briefs/instructions and case-related information into the case management system (LEX).
4. Processing case-related queries and referring them to the appropriate person, with notes recorded on the case management system.
5. Billing barristers for work done, as directed by the Senior Practice Manager.
6. Undertaking any other tasks reasonably required by senior staff.
Key Skills & Experience:
1. Education to A level standard is desirable.
2. Experience in barristers’ chambers is an advantage but full training will be provided.
3. Highly organised with excellent spoken and written communication skills.
4. Proficient in IT, with familiarity in Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and Zoom.
