We are looking for a Business Development Manager to support the growth and commercial success of our distributed energy initiatives, driving sales performance, strengthening client engagement, and developing bespoke solar PV solutions for commercial clients.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the full commercial sales process, from initial inquiry through contract signing and handover.
* Identify, qualify, and engage new and existing commercial clients across sectors (SMEs, corporates, public).
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with key industry stakeholders such as architects, developers, and engineers.
Solution Development
* Conduct site assessments and client consultations to evaluate technical and commercial feasibility.
* Perform irradiance, shading, and loss factor calculations to support solution design and financial modelling.
* Ensure proposals are technically sound, commercially viable, and compliant with industry regulations.
* Collaborate with engineers/designers to develop system layouts, energy yield forecasts, and technical solutions that meet regulatory and financial standards.
Proposal, Tender & Contract Management
* Prepare and deliver high‑quality proposals, tenders, ROI models, and financial justifications for private and public‑sector clients.
* Manage formal bids, tenders, and submissions for larger‐scale opportunities.
* Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, supply agreements, and service terms with legal, procurement, and operations teams.
* Assist clients in accessing financial incentives and grants such as the Accelerated Capital Allowance.
Performance Monitoring & Strategy
* Track and report on sales performance, pipeline activity, and key accounts using CRM.
* Provide regular feedback to management on customer needs, competitive activity, pricing strategy, and growth opportunities.
Sales Process & Market Engagement
* Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the sales process and commercial strategy.
* Attend industry trade shows, conferences, seminars, and client meetings as required.
* Collaborate cross‑functionally with marketing, telesales, and operations to support client success and lead generation.
* Stay informed on market trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory developments in the solar and renewable energy sector.
Achievements & Additional Duties
* Achieve agreed weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales targets.
* Assist in any other duties that may encompass the role.
* Additional duties as assigned by your manager.
Qualifications
* A degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, Environmental Science, or a related technical discipline is essential.
* Additional business, commercial, or sales‑related education (e.g., diploma or certificate in Sales, Business Development, or Project Management) is desirable.
* Proven understanding of solar PV system design, including knowledge of modules, inverters, mounting systems, and grid connection requirements.
* Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a technical sales or business development role, ideally within the solar PV, renewable energy, or engineering services sector.
* Demonstrated ability to lead the full commercial sales process from client engagement and solution development to proposal, negotiation, and contract close.
* Experience preparing and managing tenders and bids for public or large‑scale private projects.
* Familiarity with contract negotiation, commercial terms, and working with legal and procurement teams.
* Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel across Ireland for client meetings and site assessments.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
* Strong relationship‑building abilities with clients, internal teams, and external stakeholders (e.g., developers, engineers, architects).
* Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate across sales, design, legal, and operations functions.
* Right to work in Ireland without sponsorship.
* Flexibility to attend occasional industry events, conferences, and trade shows outside regular business hours.
