Built Environment Project Manager
Interested in taking practical action to help deliver our more complex projects whilst also supporting some of the major sustainability challenges we face today? If so, an exciting opportunity has arisen within our Built Environment Project team for an experienced Project Manager to support the delivery of a variety of construction and refurbishment projects ranging from £50k to £5m across our diverse estate. The postholder will also take the lead on the practical delivery of our carbon reduction projects to include the provision of 'Arm's Length' support to our Third-Party Energy Partner who will be delivering several major, construction biased, infrastructure projects on our behalf to ensure that they meet our exacting standards.
This role offers the successful applicant the opportunity and scope to deliver a variety of exciting construction projects, across a varied building stock whilst working closely with our clients and stakeholders. Namely, academics, technical managers and in-house professional services teams.
Role & Responsibilities
Working for the Head of Built Environment Projects, you'll be tasked with developing client briefs, appointing specialist consultants and contractors to support the delivery of the varied portfolio of projects currently under the control of the Estates and Facilities Department.
Whilst the post holder will take full responsibility for the delivery of their projects they will be supported by an experienced team delivering capital development, maintenance and sustainability led projects. We are a friendly, flexible and supportive team that promotes a positive life-work balance. As a result, this role is offered on a hybrid basis with an expectation that the postholder will be on campus for a minimum of 3 days per week.
Other responsibilities include but are not limited to
* The management of formal Construction Contracts
* The management of client relationships, project scope, financial performance, quality and adherence to programme.
* Supporting with the development of business cases for carbon reduction projects with the help of the Energy Manager and Head of Sustainability.
* Supporting the Energy Manager and Head of Sustainability with the successful implementation of carbon reduction projects.
About you
* We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:
* Proven project delivery experience within a diverse and complex operating environment
* Working knowledge of the JCT 2024 Suite of Contracts (training will be provided for the right candidate)
* Experience in procuring and managing external consultants to achieve project objectives
* The desire and motivation to be successful and to contribute towards the continual improvement of our project delivery model
