A leading provider of support services for individuals with learning disabilities - committed to empowering people to lead fulfilling lives - is seeking a passionate and experienced Horticultural Specialist to lead a major transformation project. This role involves developing a heritage garden and public attraction while guiding individuals with learning disabilities through practical horticultural activities in a safe, inclusive environment.

Working closely with Support Workers, you will help foster learners skills, confidence, and wellbeing through hands-on gardening. Youll also oversee plant and produce sales through the on-site shop, contribute to staff and volunteer development, and ensure high standards of care, safety, and inclusion across all activities. Reporting to the Senior Management Team, you will play a key role in shaping a person-centred horticulture programme with long-term community impact.

As the Deputy Head of Horticulture, your key responsibilities will include:

* Deliver gardening sessions tailored to each Learners Individual Learning Plan (ILP), with the support worker providing direct supervision and guidance.
* Contribute to activities that help Learners build confidence, life skills, and independence through engaging horticultural tasks.
* Assist in promoting Learner progression toward volunteering, employment, or further skills development, in collaboration with the support worker.
* Help manage seasonal plant and vegetable production, including garden planning, tool use, and stocking produce for the gift shop.
* Provide input to support accurate record-keeping of Learner attendance, progress, and activity engagement, as maintained by the support worker.
* Follow safeguarding procedures and contribute to creating an inclusive, respectful, and values-based environment for all participants.
* Coordinate volunteers and Support Workers to ensure effective session delivery.
* Help maintain a safe and welcoming outdoor environment by contributing to dynamic risk assessments and promoting positive behaviour.

The Horticulture Assistant will have the following skills and attributes:

* Proven experience in gardening, horticulture, or grounds management, particularly in heritage or public-facing gardens.
* Prior experience working with individuals with learning disabilities or complex needs would be a distinct advantage.
* Willing to undertake a Care Certification course/qualification upon starting.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability build rapport with staff and learners.
* Previous experience in managing or mentoring individuals would be a distinct advantage.

You will be working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Appointment will be subject to DBS clearance, right to work checks and satisfactory references.
