About the charity
Balance (Support) CIO is creative and innovative charity providing a range of support services to people with learning disabilities and enduring mental health needs living in the boroughs of Kingston, Richmond, Wandsworth Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster.
We are seeking a new Treasurer who can build on the already considerable work the charity has undertaken to assert the independence, skills and abilities of people who are too often marginalised and forgotten by their wider communities. You will have considerable experience in a finance and accounting role, as willingness to get to grips with the financial governance obligations of a charity and drive the charity financial sustainability in a measured and assured manner.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for a qualified accountant with the proven ability to explain financial information to the Board and other stakeholders. You are dedicated to the organisation's cause and objective and are willing to act as our ambassador to external bodies.
What you will be doing
You will occupy a key role in shaping what the charity doe and how it does it. You will work closely with the Chair, CEO, Finance Director and other trustees overseeing our financial governance and compliance with our legal and regulatory obligations. You will acts a key director of an organisation that employees 100 staff, works with over 400 individuals annually and has contractual relationships with a number of funding agencies in health, local government and the independent sector
Who you are
You will be someone who understands or can align with the challenges and opportunities that those we work with experience in their daily lives. You will be committed to an operational philosophy that puts those we support at the centre of decision making about the shape and direction of their lives. You will be able to translate a knowledge of the social care sector and the wider crisis affecting those subject to it into action that transforms how we deliver our services and the lives of those we support.
What we expect from you
You will be expected to attend at least 6 board meetings a year, with an additional requirement to attend other events and activities that the charity holds to promote is activities and brand
You may also from time to time be expected to represent the charity in meetings with potential funders and supporters.
What you can expect from us
Whilst this commitment will be made on a voluntary basis the charity will meet any out of pocket expenses as well as provide access to training and support commensurate with the role.
