We are seeking a Senior Research Assistant/Research Fellow with expertise in Health Services Research and experience in advanced quantitative methodologies. Some familiarity with qualitative methods is also desirable. Our study aims to determine if nurse staffing levels on hospital wards can be predicted using routinely collected data. The role involves an interest in healthcare workforce research and a passion for studying nurse staffing decisions that ensure quality and safety in patient care. Tasks include individual and team-based work, with opportunities to engage in qualitative data analysis, complex regression modeling, and predictive analytics.
The role
You will join an interdisciplinary research team that has influenced health workforce policy both in the UK and internationally. The project is funded for 2.5 years by the National Institute for Health and Care Research, involving collaborators from the University of Southampton, NHS hospital Trusts, Imperial College London, and NHS England.
Your responsibilities will include contributing to data analysis, project management, data collection, database development, workshop organization, and publication preparation, tailored to your experience and seniority. The position is initially funded until October 2027, with potential for ongoing funding. It is available full-time, with options for part-time or job sharing, and flexible working considerations. However, remote working is limited.
About you
You should hold a PhD in a relevant discipline or have equivalent experience. Candidates nearing completion of a PhD may be considered for the Senior Research Assistant role. Essential experience includes conducting research within health services, including data collection and analysis. An eagerness to learn advanced analytical techniques and a demonstrated interest in health workforce research are important.
