We are looking for a motivated, dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join our administrative team and support the coordination and scheduling of an expanded programme of work.
Main duties of the job
Reporting to the Assistant Service Manager for Gastroenterology, you will work closely with the Administrative and Clerical team to support the administration and scheduling of day case, inpatient and outpatient activity for the Gastroenterology Service. A flexible approach and excellent interpersonal skills are essential in addition to high standards of customer service.
The post holder will be the point of contact for all administrative and clerical issues relating to a patient's care pathway, tracking and supporting patients from referral to treatment and/or discharge.
The role requires you to manage and support queries from patients, clinicians and fellow staff. Excellent telephone skills and good IT proficiency will also be essential in helping with day-to-day duties. The role requires the postholder to be able to work at both hospital sites each week.

Qualifications & Experience
* Computer literate, with experience of using a keyboard
* Knowledge of databases, spreadsheets e.g. PAS, Excel or similar applications
* Knowledge of confidentiality and data protection principles
* Knowledge of health and safety
* Understanding of principles of equality and diversity
* Understanding of medical terminology
* Knowledge of healthcare administrative systems and processes
* Good general education with GCSE or equivalent in English at grade C or above.
* ECDL
* NVQ or working towards NVQ or equivalent
* Experience of using a full range of IT/Patient administration systems
* Experience working with DictateIT3, iPM, iCM, iFIT
* Experience working in a similar patient administration role in a hospital/health care setting
* Knowledge & awareness of diversity and human rights as appropriate to your role
* Ability to communicate effectively to ensure high standards of care, treatment, service or support as appropriate to your role
* Ability to understand an individual's communication, physical & emotional needs; recognise their needs and preferences
* Ability to provide a customer-focused service
* Knowledge of dealing with customer complaints and experience of customer care.
* The ability to prioritise tasks effectively without direct supervision
