Matron for Maternal Medicine Band 8a - Fixed term 1 year
Responsibilities
* Lead in the delivery of the dynamic maternal medicines service and contribute to the implementation of national and local healthcare policy.
* Develop innovative ways of delivering the service and establish collaborative relationships with other local units both in and outside the Trust.
* Practice clinically at least 50% of the time according to service needs and dedicate 50% to leading and supporting the maternal medicine midwifery team.
* Work closely with the multidisciplinary team including clinical nurse specialists, obstetricians, obstetric physicians, cardiologists, neurologists and rheumatologists.
* Collaborate with clinicians, managers and service users to ensure robust processes for managing this complex service and to improve patient safety.
* Act as an experienced leader, educator and clinical practitioner in maternity care for women with high-risk pregnancies and complex medical disorders, and manage the team of midwives.
* Work closely with the Consultant Obstetricians and with the Director of Midwifery and Gynaecology Nursing, Deputy Director of Midwifery and Gynaecology Nursing and the Senior leadership team to sustain progress on improvements following the CQC report.

Qualifications
• Experienced midwife with capability to lead in maternal medicine services.
• Significant input into the implementation of national and local healthcare policy and into developing innovative service delivery.
