By joining the Legal Services team you’ll be working in a place where empathy meets expertise. Within our own dedicated law firm, our diversely talented team support and guide customers through life’s toughest moments. It’s a fast-paced and collaborative working environment but our comprehensive training and tools will help ensure you’re ready for the challenge. You can find more details about DLG Legal Services on our website.
We currently have an exciting new opportunity to join our Personal Injury Team as a Complex / Multi-track Litigator. This is a permanent and full-time position, that can be based from our Bromley or Leeds office (hybrid working).
What you’ll be doing:
Reporting to the PI Litigation Team Leader, you will handle a caseload of complex and/or high-value Claimant Personal Injury claims, representing DLG Legal Services in providing legal advice and assistance in a professional manner, in accordance with internal procedures, and acting as an ambassador to the organization.
Managing client claims by using the firm’s technical process, accurately documenting each activity, and ensuring time is recorded correctly.
Carrying out investigations into the circumstances of incidents and the value of claims, conducting legal research as required. Collating and reviewing evidence to assess the prospects of success and the likely value of the claim, including financial losses, consulting Counsel if necessary.
Providing clients with accurate legal advice, managing expectations, explaining decisions and steps clearly, and ensuring fair treatment at all times.
Negotiating settlements on favorable terms, updating legal expenses providers at key stages, and drafting court documents, statements, and preparing files for hearings.
Instructing counsel, drafting briefs, and checking costs statements.
Identifying and managing risks in line with the firm’s policies, procedures, and legal standards.
Maintaining good relationships with team members, management, external organizations, and suppliers.
Supporting departmental and firm development through continuous improvement initiatives.
What we’re looking for:
Experienced Claims handler, Legal Executive, or Solicitor with prior personal injury claims handling experience in a law firm environment.
Knowledge of Pre-Action Protocol, CPR, Practice Directions, and relevant statutes including Fatal Accidents Act.
Experience with Case Management Systems, EL/OL/PL & RTA claims, and familiarity with JC Guidelines and research resources like Lawtel and Ogden tables.
Effective communication skills, target achievement record, ability to work under pressure, attention to detail, and time management skills.
What we’ll give you:
Competitive benefits including up to 10% bonus, insurance discounts, health and dental options, EV car scheme, share scheme, and flexible working arrangements.
Our hybrid working model combines office and home working, depending on role and team needs.
We promote diversity and inclusion, supporting all employees to succeed and thrive in a flexible, inclusive environment. If adjustments are needed during recruitment, please contact our team.
