As Senior Ecologist, you’ll have the chance to make a real difference. Your expertise will directly influence major development proposals, regeneration projects, and our long‑term planning policies. With Wrexham’s Investment Zone opportunities, you’ll also have the freedom to explore innovative, creative ways of solving ecological and planning challenges, helping us deliver sustainable growth without compromising environmental value. You will also be able to mentor a less experienced ecologist.
The Role
In this role you will be advising Development Management Officers about developments affecting ecology and supporting the preparation of planning policy and guidance. The role will also involve consultation and liaison with other Council departments, applicants, agents and other external organisations. You will have opportunities to promote biodiversity and support important monitoring work for protected species.
About You
To be considered for the role, you must have a recognised qualification in a relevant subject or equivalent experience as well as hold a valid driving licence. Experience in planning is essential e.g. in a role preparing or assessing ecological information related to a development, providing advice on ecology issues related to developments. Experience could be within a Local Authority, Consultancy, Nature Conservation Body, Responsible Body or other.
This role allows for a combination of home and office working. You will also be required to undertake site visits.
