This is a fixed term appointment to the Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and is identified as an important part of its strategy to remain a preferred provider to local Health Authorities and Clinical Commissioning Groups across a wide range of hospital services. The appointment will enhance an existing successful track record of a Unit, which has an enviable reputation for good quality patient care and education
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be expected to:
Deliver quality Orthopaedic services effectively, regularly benchmarking service to improve practice.
Support the organisational aim of HHFT positively contributing to management and financial strategies.
Enhance and provide professional leadership within the Trauma and Orthopaedic department. Initiate and take part in regular clinical audit.
Have an active role in research within the department. Contribute to training and teaching of more junior doctors.

Training & Qualification
Essential criteria
1. MBBS or equivalent
2. MRCS or equivalent
3. Minimum of 2 years post full registration
Desirable criteria
4. ATLS
Clinical Experience & Knowledg
Essential criteria
5. Previous Experience in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery
Clinical Skills & Ability
Essential criteria
6. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written
7. Ability to work with and to lead a team
8. Understanding of the importance of multi-disciplinary approaches to patient care
Desirable criteria
9. Demonstrate understanding of research and audit
10. Demonstrate the ability to manage change and an understanding of the principles of service improvement
Research & Teaching

11. Willingness to contribute to departmental teaching sessions

13. Ability to travel to and from the hospital for the purposes of fulfilling the job requirements
