Full-time (37 hours per week) Term-time only SASH Education Trust is seeking to appoint a committed, compassionate and skilled School Social Worker to join our Safeguarding and Pastoral Team at our vibrant secondary school. As our School Social Worker, you will play a central role in safeguarding, pastoral care and early help across the academy. You will:
Responsibilities
* Work directly with children and families to provide early intervention, reduce barriers to school attendance and prevent escalation of concerns.
* Serve as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, implementing statutory guidance (KCSIE 2025) and responding appropriately to safeguarding disclosures.
* Lead on multi‑agency referrals, attend professional meetings and produce high‑quality reports.
* Coordinate Early Help/Team Around the Child processes, providing continuity of support for families.
* Support Looked After Children with Personal Education Plan (PEP) reviews.
* Monitor safeguarding records, track caseloads and maintain accurate, confidential documentation.
* Work collaboratively with school staff, outside agencies and specialist services (e.g. Children’s Services, CAMHS, School Health).
* Provide support around mental health and wellbeing within the school community.
Qualifications
* A recognised Social Work qualification (CQSW, DipSW, Social Work Degree).
* Current registration with the relevant Social Work regulatory body.
* Strong knowledge of safeguarding procedures, social care legislation and multi‑agency working.
* Excellent communication skills, resilience and a reflective, child‑centred approach.
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload in a fast‑paced environment.
* A compassionate, professional and supportive manner with both pupils and adults.
* Confidence using IT systems, including Microsoft Office; knowledge of MIS is desirable.
* Mental Health First Aid or relevant CPD (desirable but not essential).
