Advanced/Senior Practitioner

Location: Civic Centre, ST4 1RN

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Duration: 3+ Months

Working Hours: Mon – Fri, 09:00 – 17:00, 37 Hours per week

Pay Rate: £ 27.19 per hour

Responsibilities

Ensure children, young people, and their families are actively involved in assessment and care planning processes.

Adhere to agreed practice standards and meet Social Work England registration and re-registration requirements.

Support families in safeguarding children and promoting their health and well-being.

Undertake complex casework and manage time effectively to respond to service needs.

Ensure departmental health and safety procedures are followed and resources are used efficiently.

Contribute to information management processes and participate in performance management systems.

Carry out assessments and manage child care plans within prescribed timescales and standards.

Provide professional expertise at meetings and represent the local authority in statutory settings.

Mentor and support newly qualified social workers and social work students.

Chair meetings such as Strategy Meetings, Children in Need, and Child Protection Core Groups.

Maintain children's records according to departmental procedures and ensure timely information sharing.

Take responsibility for continuing professional development and progression.

Participate in team meetings and contribute to service improvement initiatives.

Person Specification

Professional Social Work qualification certified by Social Work England.

Comprehensive knowledge of children’s social care legislation, safeguarding guidance, and related legislation.

Extensive knowledge of child development, disabilities, assessment methods, and case management.

Experience in restorative practice and complex social work with children and families.

Ability to communicate effectively, build relationships, and foster inter-agency communication.

Proficiency in using IT as an effective resource and interpreting management information.

Ability to provide written reports and present evidence in court.

Commitment to Equal Opportunities and the ability to challenge discrimination.

Possession of a valid driving license or access to transportation as required.

Resilience in working within a challenging environment.
