Job Description Renishaw’s spectroscopy product division (SPD) is looking for a business development manager to promote worldwide growth of its industrial spectroscopy business. This person will be responsible for developing strategies and identifying applications to grow the sales of our industrial product portfolio. They will be expected to use their technical expertise, product knowledge and industry understanding, to identify target markets and provide the necessary collateral/ support to enable our international sales force to successfully operate in these markets. This role is based at New Mills near Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire, and will require frequent international travel to visit customers and support global sales and marketing activities. Responsibilities Work independently and with global sales channels to grow markets, create relationships with key customers and develop sales opportunities. Deliver market strategy, identify future market needs, and develop global sales initiatives. Lead product marketing campaigns and promotion activities. Provide training and support to the international sales force to empower them to sell in new application areas. Support the marketing department in production of literature, including brochures, presentations, posters, notes, videos, and social media content. Conduct joint sales visits to key industry accounts. Interface and collaborate with target customers and key industry stakeholders in collaboration with the sales function. Present at international conferences, seminars, and workshops. Requirements A degree in a science or engineering related discipline. Previous commercial role in the scientific instrument market (Sales, Apps, business development, product management, etc) In depth knowledge of one or more industrial sectors (pharmaceutical, semiconductor, chemical, advanced materials), the analytical problems they face and their instrument requirements. Experience liaising with sales channels, distributors, and end users. Experience of presenting to a variety of different sized audiences. Excellent communications skills including spoken and written English. A full valid passport and full UK driving licence. Desirable requirements Previous commercial role in a spectroscopy business (Sales, Apps, business development, product management, etc) Practical, hands-on experience with Raman spectroscopy Technical knowledge of Raman spectroscopy instrumentation A PhD in a science or engineering related discipline. Person specification This role would suit a self-motivated individual who can use their initiative to drive forward market growth. To be successful in this role the individual must be able to build relationships with stakeholders both internally and customers as such they need excellent communication skills and an outgoing personality which conveys and instils confidence when interacting with individuals at all levels. They will also be resourceful, curious, willing to learn new skills and able to problem solve, in particular identify where our product portfolio can be used to address customer challenges.
