Job Description
The Data Steward is the custodian of data within the affiliate. They are responsible for aligning to globally defined processes and guidelines, and responsible for administering, accessing and using data in compliance with policy and regulatory obligations.
The Data Steward owns the documentation of all affiliate data asset metadata and related compliance, legal and contractual governance. The scope of the role contains the affiliate Master Data Management; this includes customer, business structure and product Master Data which will need to be coordinated with Global BTS and the Global Data Steward, as well as liaising with local data vendors to manage changes in data structures and subscriptions.
The ultimate goal of the Data Steward is to champion data quality and usage through coordinating with local and above affiliate stakeholders (WWD Analyst, area BTS, local Data Owners, Global Data Steward and Global BTS) to map data, provide clean and clear data lineages and contribute to the data dictionary.
Key Responsibilities
Data Ingestion
The Data Steward oversees the life cycle of datasets that are ingested into our data platform (Palantir’s Foundry). Specifically, Data Stewards are responsible for aligning policies and procedures for the day-to-day operational and administrative management of systems and data - including the intake, storage, processing, and transmission of data to internal and external systems. The Data Ingestion Form (DIF) is central to this area of responsibility.
Governance for Privacy, Security and Risk Management
The Data Steward is involved in the protection of data for the organization. They respect established guidelines, protocols and training that govern the ingested data and ensure controls are enforced in all processes with Legal/Privacy, Compliance and BTS to stay compliant with global (and local) policies and regulations.
Data Access
The Data Steward ensures assignment of accesses and privileges appropriately in compliance with existing policies, agreements with data providers, individuals’ roles and access risk.
Master Data Management
Provided that the Master Data defines the standards of data ensuring higher quality, the local Data Steward has ownership of data in MDM. This can relate to customers, (local) product or business structures: adopting, localizing and mapping globally defined reference data, managing subscriptions to external data providers (e.g., IQVIA) and handling related relationships, ensuring quality of external data and internal data. The Data Steward will also regularly monitor the Data Quality Scorecard to identify the data gaps and fix them, which means: detect root cause, identify and implement solution and monitor effect on data quality.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field; advanced degrees are preferred.
* Over 3 years of relevant experience in Customer Excellence, Business Technology Solutions, or similar complex and demanding Data and Analytics environments, with a focus on data quality and integrity.
* Good knowledge of Palantir’s Foundry (AbbVie’s environment), focusing on applications such as Dataset Preview, Contour, Workshop and Pipeline Builder. Familiarity with Reltio, Veeva Core functionalities and Veeva Data and IQVIA data sets
* Strong understanding of mathematics, statistics, machine learning, and data analytics methodologies. Strong data quality culture background. Familiarity with Master Data Management. Awareness of Data Life Cycle and System Quality Assurance principles.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex data constraints and requirements to internal-, and external-, stakeholders with varying technical understanding, as well as communicating data quality issues with above affiliate colleagues in BTS.
COMPETENCIES
* Problem Solving - Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to identify consistency and risks, utilisting a strong attention to detail.
* Interpersonal Skills - Ability to build trust-based relationships with stakeholders across the organization, influencing and partnering effectively.
* Agile and Adaptable - Demonstrates agility in managing multiple projects, adeptly adjusting priorities to meet changing business needs.
