An international, market leading logistics and supply chain organization is seeking a Head of U.S. Customs, Trade & Compliance to lead its national strategy across regulatory compliance, customs brokerage, and trade operations.
Job Description
This executive level, Head of Customs, Trade and Compliance role, will drive enterprise wide compliance, optimize operational performance, and ensure alignment with evolving U.S. customs and tariff regulations. The position carries full ownership of customs related performance, including risk management, operational excellence, and financial outcomes. Main duties and responsibilities include the following:
* Lead national strategy for customs, tariffs, and trade compliance across the U.S. network
* Act as the organization's licensed U.S. Customs Broker and national permit holder
* Ensure full compliance with all U.S. import and export regulations
* Partner with senior leadership, legal, and government affairs to anticipate regulatory changes
* Identify and mitigate regulatory, financial, and operational risks
* Translate complex regulatory requirements into scalable business processes
* Oversee brokerage operations across multiple hubs and gateways
* Drive improvements in clearance speed, first pass yield, and operational efficiency
* Own and manage customs related P&L performance
* Develop and implement compliance programs, policies, and internal controls
* Lead audit and governance activities, ensuring strong compliance outcomes
* Maintain relationships with U.S. Customs and Border Protection and other regulatory bodies
* Drive continuous improvement, automation, and modernization initiatives
* Build and lead a high performing national compliance organization

The Successful Applicant

* Bachelor's degree
* Active U.S. Customs Broker License
* 10+ years of leadership experience in customs, trade compliance, or international logistics
* Strong knowledge of U.S. customs regulations, tariffs, and global trade frameworks

* Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and regulatory agencies
* Strong analytical and strategic decision making capabilities
