Teaching Assistant
Location: Scarborough (initial training) and Holme upon Spalding Moor (YO43)
Start Date: Easter 2026
Contract: Full-Time or Part-Time (Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri)
GSL Education seeking a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to support a Key Stage 4 pupil transitioning from a specialist SEN setting into an alternative provision. This is a full-time role starting from Easter, offering a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on a young person’s educational journey.
About the Role as a Teaching Assistant:
* Provide 1:1 support to a KS4 pupil with additional needs.
* Support the pupil’s transition into an alternative provision setting.
* Build a strong, trusting relationship to encourage engagement and routine.
* Assist with emotional regulation, behaviour support, and learning activities.
* Work closely with staff to ensure a consistent and structured approach.
Key Information:
* The first 2 weeks of the role will be based in a specialist SEN school in Scarborough for training and to build rapport with the pupil.
* The role will then transition to a full-time placement at an alternative provision in Holme upon Spalding Moor (YO43).
As the Ideal Teaching Assistant, you should have:
* Experience supporting young people with SEN, SEMH, or behavioural needs.
* Calm, patient, and confident in managing challenging situations.
* Strong relationship-building skills and a nurturing approach.
* Ability to provide consistent support and structure.
* Previous experience in schools or alternative provisions is desirable.
