An exciting opportunity has arisen at theCollege for a Technical Workshop Supervisor/Assessor to join theBuilding Services team based in Coalville. Working in this role youwill support the delivery of teaching and learning within theworkshop environment ensuring that resources supplies tools andequipment are effectively and safely managed and maintained.
You may currently be working in a constructionsetting looking and looking to progress into a career in teaching.You will support a wide range of Construction students to developand deliver their skills to ensure they are successful on theirchosen programmes.
You will have an aptitude foraccuracy be able to maintain our superb workshop facilities andcontribute to the continued improvement of the Constructionprogrammes to achieve the best outcomes for students andstakeholders.

Tasks
Tosupport the delivery of teaching and learning within the workshopenvironment ensuring that resources supplies tools and equipmentare effectively and safely managed andmaintained.
To ensure that health and safety ismaintained at all times in the workshops and stores in accordancewith Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and any Health and safetyRegulations issued under theAct.
KeyResponsibilities:
1. Ensurethe Health and Safety of students in the use of equipment tools andresources required to develop their skills andknowledge.
2. Review monitorand complete annual risk assessments associated with the workshopenvironment includingCOSHH.
3. Organise safe systemsfor storage of material andequipment.
4. To undertake linemanagement responsibility for supervisors within BuildingServices
5. To work closelywith the Section Manager to ensure that priorities are sequencedand met
6. To assess anddeliver sessions in the workshop setting as required by the SectionManager
7. To arrange workshopcover in the event of staffshortages
8. To take part inopen days / evenings asrequired
9. To ensure that bothElectrical and Plumbing workshops are maintained andequipped
10. Ensure thatworkshop and ancillary areas including the service yard and hygienefacilities are kept secure clean and in a fit and safe condition ofuse.
11. Maintain and keep up todate inventory and records of equipment andmaterials.
12. Monitor andmaintain stock levels and order replacements as and when
13. Ensure that any materialsor equipment are disposed of safely and in accordance with Collegeprocedures statutory regulation or manufacturersguidelines.
14. To effectivelymanage any budgets that may be delegated from time to time ensuringthat best value is obtained and that Financial Regulations arecomplied with.
15. Check andmaintain the operation of equipment and machinery carrying outroutine maintenance repairs or replacement as necessary and ensurethat appropriate servicing is completed in accordance withmaintenance schedules.
16. Issueand record tools equipment and materials to staff and students asrequired.
17. Ensure the safestorage and issue of flammable and health injuriousliquids
18. Assist in thedevelopment of the workshop to ensure continuous improvement inpractical training
19. Receiveand check all incoming equipment andmaterials
20. Assemble set outcheck and dismantle equipment tools materials andvehicles
21. Design manufactureand construct equipment for use in the teaching/training programmesof the department
22. Contributeto the production of teaching and learning materials and resourcesin the workshopenvironment
23. Assist in thedelivery of practical training and give demonstrations in the useof equipment tools materials and repair and testing techniques asappropriate.
24. Assist in thepreparation and organisation of formative and summative workshopassessments including technical support advice andguidance.
25. Support teachingteams overseeing the quality of students work and provide feedbackto develop students confidence and resilience within the workshopenvironment.
26. Supervise andassist students as appropriate providing students with support andguidance including duringinduction.
27. Notify theSection Head of any building maintenancerequirements
Requirements
1. Qualified to Level 2 or equivalent in a relevant engineeringsubject area in Domestic Electrical Installation.
2. Qualified to Level 2 in English and Maths or be able to demonstratecompetence at this level though diagnostic testing.
3. Recent and relevant industrial experience
4. Knowledge of electrical/engineeringprocesses
