Job Description
As a Wastewater and Bioresources Consultant at BMA, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our Decisio platform and using it to help our clients make better decisions now and in the long term. Your primary focus will be on leveraging your expertise in wastewater and bioresources management, combined with production planning and data science skills, to optimise the performance, resilience, and sustainability of water and bioresource systems for our clients.BMA is looking for someone to join the company as aconsultant whohas a background in process engineering, environmental science/engineering or related discipline. While the initial focus of the role will be in the wastewater and bioresources sector, there will be wider opportunities across our clean water and energy infrastructure clients.
Overview of the vacancy
* Permanent full-time contract, Monday to Friday, working 40 hours per week.
* Position to commence on the mutually agreed date.
* Hybrid role, based at BMA's offices in Leeds, UK.
* Competitive holiday entitlement in addition to UK bank holiday.
Key responsibilities
The role will require you to be part of a rapidly growing company that has a wide-ranging customer base spread across numerous industry verticals in the water, wastewater & energy sectors, amongst others.
* Drive customer and stakeholder satisfaction through proactive understanding of client business requirements, translating them into modelling solutions. This role is primarily customer-facing.
* Lead and attend workshop sessions with business stakeholders from time to time to determine business requirements for end-use cases to be deployed.
* Inform clients' strategic Resource Management Plans and Long-Term Delivery Strategies, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices, using the Decisio platform.
* Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support systems planning, offering guidance on efficiency optimisation, energy production enhancement, and resilience planning during critical asset unavailability.
* Learn the core technologies used by BMA and become familiar with the BMA’s proprietary Decision Intelligence software platform, Decisio Cloud for Water (C4W), to create detailed digital representations of clients' connected systems of assets in the water, wastewater and organic waste management sectors.
* Gather, transform, and validate data to design. As well as to make use of available technologies to build and validate solution behaviour.
* Conduct comprehensive scenario analysis and network design optimisation to enhance system performance, efficiency, and resilience, considering various operational constraints, environmental factors, and the strategic ambitions of the client.
* Understand existing mathematical models and develop additional logic to meet both internal and clients’ requirements.
* Participate in all aspects of system development, testing, deployment, and feedback with the overarching objective to further enhance and develop the Company's system for the benefit of the Company and its customers (this could require interaction with other company employees geographically situated around the world).

Professional Qualifications and Skills
* Bachelor's degree or higher in Process Engineering, Chemical/Environmental Engineering, Data Science, Statistical and Decision Sciences, or a STEM related field.
* Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience inwastewater treatment, bioresources management, sludge treatment and/or production planningwithin a relevant industry or sector.
* Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices in wastewater and bioresources management is highly desirable.
* Demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive scenario analysis, optimisation modelling, and investment planning, with a keen understanding of the interplay betweentechnical, economic, and environmentalfactors.
* Familiarity with Microsoft Excel is essential, and a basic knowledge of other tools and techniques—such as MS SQL Server, Python, R, linear programming, and other optimisation methods and technologies—would be a distinct advantage.
* A proven track record of driving innovation, delivering results, and adapting to dynamic and fast-paced environments.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
